Education
Bedford College aims to incorporate education for
sustainable development into all training
programmes across the college, and play a leading role in building
the Further Education sector's capacity to contribute to low Carbon
economic development. The promotion of sustainable citizenship and
ecological awareness through education is demostrated most
eloquently through the projects undertaken throughout the
departments in the college.
The Art & Design department are
currently encouraging their students to design and develop
sustainable 3D objects under the theme of alchemy. The
natural resources of this planet are fast running out, which has
already caused a number of designers to look towards the
concept of recycling to produce new objects. By gathering
recycled materials, or using resources that are
sustainably sourced, students in Foundation Art & Design are
developing their own products to facillitate a low Carbon
future.
